After 20 years working for Fortune 500 companies, and 16 years for Charles Schwab, I started an RIA in 2016 so that I could customize portfolios, and provide a higher level of service for my clients. I hold the CFP(R) designation and have been serving clients since 1997. I have my own model portfolios and am also DFA Approved, and am looking to grow my business organically as well as bring on a certain number of clients through acquisition from an outgoing or retiring FA. I am happy to adopt your models for your clients if that makes the most sense, and then over time if appropriate, they may opt to merge into my models. I am envisioning a 1-5 year transition plan in which you would introduce us to your clients and have us start to managing their assets and the relationship, while you are still available if needed for questions, etc. And if desired, you would continue to manage your favorites for as long as you wish. Alternatively, instead of an outright buyout, I would also consider a bips transition plan of decreasing/increasing payout over a timeline as I build rapport and relationships with the clients. There are many ways to transition, and I am open to your vision as well. We have 2 advisors on staff and both of us have lots of bandwidth to bring on new clients while still maintaining a high touch experience.
