Overview

Solo CFP practitioner with approximately 50m in assets with support through a large OSJ in the region. Practice, which was purchased in 2009, was almost exclusively commission based with virtually no managed account clients. Over time and with most new clients, the managed money portion has grown to about 25% of revenue with mutual funds/equities/bonds contributing about 10% and the remaining 65% of revenue primarily coming from trails with existing mutual fund/annuity accounts. Most new clients come via referrals from existing clients and connections with a CPA and Attorney in my office building.

Short to mid term plans would be to continue with existing broker/dealer due to portion of revenue still coming in via trails but longer term would potentially like to explore RIA only. I currently use the broker/dealer's corporate RIA. I would be interested in buying a similar or smaller practice and/or merging with the right partner(s). Also, if someone is looking for a continuity partner/successor in the event of death/disability, I would consider that as well.
