I'm a fee-based RIA firm in north western PA area practicing in the areas of wealth advisory, financial planning and investment management. I maintain a sharp focus on my clients, their portfolios, and their financial plans. My firm has now achieved the size where I am exploring the possibility to grow my practice organically AND inorganically. I am looking to absorb one small detail-oriented, fee advisory, commission-based advisory, hybrid advisory, or insurance/ investment hybrid business (with emphasis on life, annuity, Medicare) that operates with a similar investment philosophy that I do. I am looking for firms whose owner(s) are looking to exit their professional careers in the next 0-3 years, and are willing to see if their practice would be a good fit for acquisition. I do believe I have the capacity to acquire a small firm with a client base of 25-75 active clients. I believe this opportunity would be an especially good fit for a selling/retiring FINRA-based advisor who wants out of the business due to productivity constraints/regulatory burden and who seeks to obtain fair value for the book of business you have built and to hand their book of clients over to a capable, accomplished advisory firm. Secondarily, I am also beginning to contemplate a successor plan for my practice for business continuity planning purposes. I am seeking to set up a successor advisor to take over the management of my client portfolio once I retire, in a manner similar to what I have described above. My time horizon to retire is 10 years (or longer) out, but we all must understand the best laid plans need to be flexible for unforeseen circumstances. If you are an advisor looking to grow, with a 10 year time frame then my firm may be a reasonable target for your future acquisition objectives.
