I have been in the financial services business since 2008. I started with selling life insurance and since then have branched out to fee based planning along with insurance work, group benefits planning. 6 years ago I attained my series 65 and moved my practice to Vancouver Washington where I live. I am 48 years old and 5 years ago started with $0 fee based business and in the last 5 years I have converted many of my insurance clients to investment accounts and also found new clients. I want to grow my practice faster and the fastest way to accomplish that is to buy another practice or merge with another advisor or group and construct a buy out over time. I am growing my AUM at about 25% annually and at some point I will need to invest in infrastructure with support staff or junior advisors. I want to purchase, merge or buy out another practice to step up to an economy of scale and not try and re-invent the wheel.
